What is the ideal age to start orthodontic treatment in children?
Each treatment plan is specific to the child and their particular problem, as well as their growth and development. Children mature at different stages and preventive orthodontic treatment can be done at an early age to prevent a more serious problem from developing.
However, to generalize, it is recommended that children should be examined by an orthodontist by the age of 7 at the latest. If your child is younger than 7 years old and you notice something that looks "out of order", you do not need to wait until your child is 7 years old or until your dentist's recommendation for the first check-up.
If your child is 8 years old or older, it is not too late for an orthodontist examination.
